NAPERVILLE – A historic church in Naperville will unveil its latest renovation Easter weekend.

St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in downtown Naperville will sound its real church bells for the first time in nearly four decades. The new and refurbished bells were installed by crane last week in the church’s 130-foot tall bell tower.

A fire destroyed the church and its original bell in 1922. The bells were restored in the 1970s but the church started using used an electronic system to mimic the bells’ tolls.

The Rev. Tom Milota said the new bells will ring for the first time during Easter Vigil on Saturday evening.
