To the Editor:
As early voting begins, I am writing to encourage residents of Sycamore Township to join me in casting their votes for the re-election of Sycamore Township Supervisor Barbara Young. I have had the honor of serving as an elected official with Barbara since 2004.
Barbara is a longtime resident of Sycamore Township, having raised three children here with her husband Rich. She has dedicated herself to our community as a public servant and private citizen.
She brings to this position education, with an associate degree from Kishwaukee College from its College of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University in finance with emphasis in accounting and economics.
Managing the finances of the township is a key component of the demands of the office. Under her management the township has decreased the levy in 2009 which in turn decreased taxes paid over the years to Sycamore Township.
She has updated the accounting system to make it more efficient for one person to manage. Other townships hire multiple people to manage the accounting for their townships, costing residents more money. Barbara uses her knowledge to save Sycamore Township residents money.
In addition, Barbara has completed countless hours of continuing education through the Townships of Illinois Officials Association so important in the management of the complexities of township government.
Most importantly, Barbara brings to her position a dedication to the quality of life within our township, particularly for its senior citizens and children.
In addition to a proven record for handling the finances of the township responsibly, she brings a distinct understanding of township government and its role in the betterment of the community.
She has forged connections with various organizations that provide needed services to our residents and found a way to support their efforts while keeping taxes down.
Please join me in casting your vote to retain Barbara Young as she continues to dedicate her efforts on behalf of all residents of Sycamore Township.
