Genoa student earns scholarship to SIU

Brittany Rodriguez of Genoa is the recipient of the Academic Scholarship for Transfer Students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale for the fall 2013 semester. Scholarships are based on academic merit and potential for superior achievement in college.

Rodriguez, who will graduate in May from Kishwaukee College in Malta, is the daughter of Rebecca Haught of Genoa. She is a member of the National Honor Society, earned Dean’s List Honors for three consecutive semesters, and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She is a volunteer soccer coach, dance coach volunteer, and Genoa-Kingston High School band volunteer.

Rodriguez plans to major in English at SIU Carbondale.
