FBI investigates 2 Marion cops over brutality claim
MARION – An FBI investigation of suspected police mistreatment of a suspect has resulted in the resignation of one officer and the paid administrative leave of another.
The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reported that the Marion Police Department has revealed its in-house video monitoring shows the two officers’ Feb. 10 handling of an individual taken into custody appeared to violate Illinois law and departmental policy.
The detainee was arrested on various unspecified misdemeanors and felonies, and the incident was discovered during an administrative review of the footage.
