Wesson resigns from DeKalb police force

DeKALB – The DeKalb police officer who is accused of hitting a pedestrian while driving his truck resigned Friday, city officials said.

City Attorney Dean Frieders said Darrick L. Wesson – who is charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving under the influence of alcohol, and improper lane use – said the resignation was voluntary.

“He is no longer a police officer for the city of DeKalb,” Frieders said, declining to comment further.
