Two injured in crash outside Genoa

GENOA – Fog might have contributed to a crash that injured two drivers about 7:10 a.m. Friday at Base Line and Five Point roads southwest of Genoa, police said.

Jared A. Poynter, of the 100 block of Jackson Boulevard, told police he did not see the stop sign at Five Points Road as he drove west on Base Line Road, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. His 2009 Chevrolet Silverado struck a Chevrolet Impala driven by Rosaura Perez, 52, of Garden Prairie, police said.

Both vehicles ended up facing north in a field southwest of the intersection, police said. Both were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
