Firefighters: Check smoke detectors
Local firefighters are encouraging residents to check the batteries and smoke detectors when they change their clocks this weekend.
Daylight savings time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, and firefighters suggest residents replace the batteries in their smoke detectors.
They also recommend checking the date on the new batteries to ensure they have not expired.
