Our View: Snow slows spring's start

Thumbs down: To March blizzards. The heaviest snowfall of the winter season came this week, after the start of meteorological spring.

Although the roughly 10 inches of snow recorded in DeKalb spawned many unique snow people and snow forts around the area, it also promised that we’d be frozen out of the start of spring for a while yet.

Thumbs up: To stock market recovery. More than five years after it hit its last all-time high in October 2007, the Dow Jones Industrial Average eclipsed that mark Tuesday when it closed at 14,253, and finished the week at 14,397.
