Former NIU running back Turner released
Former Northern Illinois running back Michael Turner was released by the Atlanta Falcons on Friday.
Turner was set to make $5.5 million next season and was cut along with cornerback Dunta Robinson and defensive end John Abraham to save the Falcons salary-cap space.
Turner, 31, was limited to only 800 rushing yards last season and averaged a career-low 3.6 yards per carry while dealing with injuries. He had rushed for more than 1,300 yards in three of four seasons as a Falcon.
