Collections under way for Sycamore boy killed in crash

SYCAMORE – North Elementary School parents are collecting money for the family of the 11-year-old fifth-grader killed Wednesday in a car crash as an 18-year-old Sycamore woman remained hospitalized Friday evening.

Teale Noble remained in serious condition at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford two days after the crash that injured her and Nicholas Weber, 21, of Sycamore. Weber's brother Matthew Ranken died Wednesday at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

Their vehicle was westbound on Route 64 near Peplow Road about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when they stopped for traffic backed up because of a crash about a mile away, police said. A 1999 Ford Expedition driven by 28-year-old Benjamin Black of Sycamore crashed into the back of the stopped Cavalier, causing a chain-reaction accident, police said.
