Judge sentences 'Terror Town' street-gang leader

CHICAGO – A judge has sentenced a high-ranking member of a Chicago street gang to 20 years in prison for convictions on drug trafficking and weapons charges.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Gilbert Spiller operated from a South Side Chicago neighborhood that he and fellow gang members of the Black P Stone Nation called "Terror Town." Within the gang, he held the rank of "general."

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty last year to two counts of selling crack cocaine and one of illegally selling a firearm. U.S. District Judge Charles Kocoras sentenced Spiller in Chicago on Wednesday.

Prosecutors said Spiller has a criminal history that spans two decades. They said he joined the Black P Stone Nation in grade school and went on to become involved in at least a half-dozen shootings.
