DeKalb unemployment office to close Friday

DeKALB – Today is the last day DeKalb’s unemployment office will offer telephone and walk-in services.

The DeKalb Illinois Department of Employment Security Office, 1701 E. Lincoln Highway, and six others will close Friday as part of federal budget reductions, according to a news release. Staff will continue to work there until the layoff process governed by union contracts is complete.

The other locations being closed are in Centralia, East St. Louis, Galesburg, Jacksonville, Mattoon and Murphysboro. The nearest employment offices to DeKalb County will now be in Ottawa and North Aurora.
