Letter: Follow the money on gun lobby
To the Editor:
In “All the President’s Men,” the story of Bob Woodward’s and Carl Bernstein’s unraveling of the Watergate scandal, an informant advises the investigative reporters to follow the money. We would be wise to go down that path as we grapple with our nation’s obsession with guns.
The National Rifle Association has transitioned from an organization serving the interests of hunters and sportsmen to a bought-and-paid-for lobbying arm of the gun industry. The fear-mongering and the intimidation of elected officials have a clear purpose: Profits for the manufacturers and merchandizers of weaponry.
