West Elementary earns Ill. recognition

SYCAMORE – West Elementary School was among the 105 Spotlight Schools the Illinois State Board of Education honored this year.

The Spotlight School award goes to schools that made adequate yearly progress and have at least half the students coming from low-income families, according to a news release from Sycamore School District 427.

The number of Spotlight Schools has declined each year since 2008 as the adequate yearly progress requirements have become more and more stringent, the release states.
