The Miss Fox Valley scholarship pageant will be held at the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb at 4 p.m. Feb. 23.

FunME Events and Kishwaukee Fest are the official hosts of the event. The pageant has four divisions: Princess (ages 5 to 9), Outstanding Preteen (ages 10 to 12), Outstanding Teen (ages 13 to 17) and Miss (ages 17 to 24). The winner in the Miss division will qualify for the Miss Illinois pageant, a preliminary in the Miss America organization. Select winners from the Fox Valley pageant will appear in the Kishwaukee Fest Parade in DeKalb on July 26.

The Miss Fox Valley Scholarship Pageant is one of the local preliminaries of the Miss Illinois Scholarship Association, a duly-accredited preliminary in the Miss America Organization. These pageants offer young women opportunities to enhance their personal and professional development through scholarship programs, according to a news release. For the past two years, Miss Illinois has been one of the top 10 finalists in the Miss America Pageant.

The pageant is open to any unmarried woman or girl in Illinois within one of the division age ranges. It was previously held in Harvard, and was recruited by FunME Events to move to DeKalb.

Girls and women ages 5 to 24 who are interested in learning more about the pageant can find information at www.missfoxvalley.webs.com or by searching for Miss Fox Valley on Facebook.
