DeKalb man charged with sexual assault on minor

SYCAMORE – A DeKalb man has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a girl younger than age 13.

Gildardo C. Abarca, 36, of the 200 block of Tilton Park Drive in DeKalb, is being held on $200,000 bond for an assault that police said occurred Jan. 24. According to court documents, Abarca made sexual contact and penetration with his hand to the minor girl.

Abarca faces a Class X felony, punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

He is next scheduled in court Feb. 27.
