Prep roundup: Sycamore cruises past IMSA

After a loss to Ottawa on Saturday, Sycamore dominated IMSA, 81-33, at home on Monday night.

The Spartans boys basketball team jumped out to a 30-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Devin Mottet led the Spartans with 18 points while Logan Wright had 14 points off the bench for Sycamore (12-9).

Sycamore knocked down seven three-pointers on the night.


DeKalb dominates Streator: The Barbs continued to roll over the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference with a 42-17 win at home against Streator.

Freshman Brittney Patrick led a balanced scoring attack for DeKalb with nine points. Courtney Bemis had eight points and four steals in the victory. Janay Wright had four points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Cogs fall at Richmond: Genoa-Kingston lost, 51-23, at Richmond-Burton. Kate Thurlby led the Cogs with eight points while Andrea Strohmaier had six points.

The Cogs are 2-22 (1-9 Big Northern Conference East) and play Rockford Christian at home Friday on senior night.

H-BR downs St. Edward: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated St. Edward, 47-38, at home in its second-to-last regular season game of the year.

Lauren Paver scored 20 points, including hitting 12 of 15 free throws. Bridgette Edmeier had nine points while Abbie Tosch had eight.

H-BR (14-12) hosts Lena-Winslow on Saturday. The frosh-soph game will start at 1 p.m. and the varsity game will follow.
