Bears hire linebackers coach

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Bears hired Tim Tibesar as linebackers coach Tuesday.

Tibesar, who replaces longtime assistant Bob Babich, spent last season as Purdue's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Before his one-year stint at Purdue, Tibesar worked alongside new Bears coach Marc Trestman for three years as the Montreal Alouettes' linebackers coach (2009-10) and defensive coordinator (2011).

Tibesar also coached at Kansas State, where he served as the Wildcats' special-teams coordinator for one season and as defensive coordinator for two seasons.

After leaving his role as the Bears' linebackers coach earlier this month, Babich was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars as defensive coordinator.
