Train rail problem closes part of Route 38 at Route 23

DeKALB – Evening commuters should avoid the intersection of routes 23 and 38, which will be partially closed as Union Pacific crews fix a separated rail there.

City officials were notified of the separated track rail about 11:50 a.m. Thursday, said Mark Espy, DeKalb's assistant director of public works. Route 38 (Lincoln Highway) will be closed at the intersection for about 7 hours, Espy said.

"We're having to set up a detour for Route 38 both east and west," Espy said. "Route 23 is going to be open but there's no eastbound traffic off of 23."
