CHICAGO – Illinois home foreclosure activity rose 32.6 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year. But it was almost 10 percent lower than in 2010.
A report released Thursday by Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac shows Illinois with 136,603 foreclosure filings last year. That represents a rate of one in every 39 housing units, or 2.58 percent of all homes. It's the fifth-highest rate in the nation.
