PREP ROUNDUP: DeKalb boys bowling takes second at Northern Illinois Big 12 tournament

The DeKalb boys bowling team took second place at the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference tournament at Streator on Monday. DeKalb finished with 6,897 pins, just 72 behind champion Dixon.

The Barbs were in the lead after five games, but Dixon rallied in the sixth and final game to win the tournament.

Seth Pinne finished with a six-game total of 1,230 and had a single-game high of 226. He finished in fifth place individually. Will Todtz’s 1,196 series was good for ninth place while Sean Mattingly (1,192) took 10th place.

Sycamore finished in fifth place with 6,453 pins.

The Barbs will bowl on Senior Night against Streator on Thursday at Mardi Gras Lanes.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Royals dominate LaMoille: Hinckley-Big Rock got off to a fast start and cruised past Little Ten Conference rival LaMoille, 51-18, on Monday.

Jacqueline Madden led the Royals with 18 points while Bridgette Edmeier had 10 points.

H-BR (10-9, 5-1 LTC) plays at Serena on Thursday.

GIRLS BOWLING

Kaneland falls to Huntley: The Knights lost a dual meet to Huntley, 2,978-2,728, on Monday in Huntley.

Christine Crews led the Knights with a 545 series, including Kaneland’s only 200 single game, a 205 in her second game. Morgan Woiciechowski recorded a 527 series for the Knights, including a 189 single-game high score.
