PREP ROUNDUP: Barbs take defending 3A champ Montini to wire in OT loss

DeKalb took the defending Class 3A state champion Montini Broncos down to the wire on Saturday. The Barbs and Broncos were tied, 34-34, after four quarters, but Montini came out with a 43-38 win.

Rachel Torres had 14 points and six rebounds while Maddy Johnson recorded seven points and 11 rebounds. Courtney Patrick had 10 points in the loss.

H-BR wins L10 game: The Hinckley-Big Rock girls basketball team started slow against Seneca, falling behind, 10-0, in the first quarter.

But the Royals rallied back and edged Seneca, 39-37, on Saturday.

H-BR had a balanced scoring attack, led by Abbie Tosch with 10 points.

HBR is 9-9 and plays Lamoille on Monday at H-BR.

Hampshire beats Sycamore: Sycamore was beaten by Hampshire, 41-39, in a close game on the road Saturday night.

Bailey Gilbert led the Spartans with 21 points as Sycamore dropped to 6-7 on the year.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Somonauk edges Sandwich: Somonauk held off Sandwich for a 47-41 victory on Saturday.

Reece Bode had a rare 20-20 game with 20 points and 20 rebounds for Somonauk.
