East St. Louis woman dies at 111

EAST ST. LOUIS – An East St. Louis woman who had been recognized as the oldest person in Illinois has died at the age of 111.

A funeral home in the city said Mayetta Epps-Miller died Monday.

The Belleville News-Democrat reported that Epps-Miller was recognized as the oldest Illinois resident in January of last year. At that time, she was also listed as the 14th oldest living American.
