Annex/Dreamers to present ‘Lion, Witch, Wardrobe’
Annex/Dreamers Theatre Group will presenting C.S. Lewis’ beloved “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” Jan. 11 through 13 at Northern Illinois University’s Corner Theatre.
The play tells the famous tale of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy – four siblings in World War II-era England who are sent away from London to live in the countryside, where they will be safe from air raids and bombings. While they are staying in a large, historic country house owned by an old professor, Lucy discovers that a wardrobe in a spare room is a gateway to a magical land called Narnia.
Based on the well-loved book by C.S. Lewis, the play explores the four children’s adventures in Narnia where they learn about bravery, loyalty and the meaning of friendship. Time magazine included the novel in its “All-TIME 100 Novels.” It has been published in 47 foreign languages and made into three major feature films.
“This is an exciting, family-friendly play that is perfect for children of all ages,” director Calvin Coran said in a news release. “This cast has done a great job of bringing Narnia to life with all its interesting characters and dangerous adventures.”
