DeKalb boys hoops finish tourney on high note

“We really haven’t been in a whole lot of situations where we had a 15- or 18-point lead so hopefully we’ll take this and learn from it.”

Carpenter led DeKalb with 16 points and knocked down two of the Barbs’ four 3-pointers. Harris added 15, senior center Jake Smith contributed 12 and sophomore point guard Rudy Lopez had 11 points.

Smith rolled his ankle midway through the fourth quarter. Rohlman said Smith would be looked at by the team trainer before the injury could be assessed.

The center will have time to rest as the Barbs do not play again until Jan. 4.
