Master Gardener class starts Jan. 7 in DeKalb

DeKALB – The University of Illinois Extension will offer Master Gardener training starting Jan. 7 at the DeKalb County Community Outreach Building, 2500 N. Annie Glidden Road.

Classes are Mondays through April 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. After the training, participants will receive a Master Gardener intern certificate and be assigned mentors. Then, interns must complete 60 volunteer hours within two years to become a certified Master Gardener. To maintain that status, they must finish at least 10 hours of continuing education and 30 volunteer hours a year.

The initial training class costs $175, which covers the manual, handouts and refreshments.
