PREP ROUNDUP: Indian Creek opens Amboy tournament with win

Indian Creek's girls basketball team shook off the rust from a 13-day layoff and defeated Somonauk, 52-33, at the Amboy Holiday Tournament.

Samantha Mosley led the Timberwolves with 12 points while freshman Josie Diehl had 10 points in the win.

"Ariel [Russell] and Kate [Thuestad] did a nice job having all-around games, and making some really nice passes," Indian Creek coach Paul Muchmore said. "We had contributions from everybody today."

The Timberwolves are 5-7 and continue play at Amboy against Ottawa-Marquette at 3 p.m. today.

DeKalb rebounds: The Barbs bounced back from two losses in a row at the Chuck Dayton tournament to defeat Chicago Schurz, 62-51, on Wednesday.

Rudy Lopez had 11 points for the Barbs (2-10).

DeKalb plays Thornridge at 3:30 p.m. today.

Cogs fall: Genoa-Kingston lost to Ottawa, 52-38, in its first game at the Plano Christmas Classic on Wednesday.

The Cogs couldn't rally from a nine-point halftime deficit. Tommy Lucca led G-K with 12 points while Mason Lucca added 10 points. Adam Price had eight in the loss.

G-K will play Plano or Seneca at 10:30 a.m. today.
