SYCAMORE – A Sycamore man was killed in an early-morning accident Monday.

Police were called about 1:35 a.m. Monday to Feed Road and Tesla Court in Sycamore for a report of an accident, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival emergency responders found the driver, Russell A. Swanson, 83, of Sycamore, to be unresponsive. He was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the news release.

Authorities say Swanson’s vehicle, a 1994 Ford Aerostar van, was traveling east on Freed Road when it left the roadway and came to rest in a tree near Tesla Court.

The accident remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.
