Letter: Reader unhappy with Obamacare lies
To the Editor:
On Sept. 15, Obamacare expert Steven Tucker spoke to the DeKalb County of Illinois Tea Party (DCITP) about the dangers of Obamacare. I learned some important facts that day.
In order to pass Obamamcare, President Barack Obama told false stories about his mother and a man from Downers Grove both dying because they were allegedly dropped by their insurance companies. He also lied to pro-life Congressman Bart Stupak, promising him that in exchange for his vote, he would ban abortion from Obamacare. Once Stupak’s vote was secured, Obamacare added an abortion fund to begin in 2014 and added abortifacient drugs as well.
Besides these lies, there were other whoppers told about Obamacare as well. One was that it will lower premiums by $2,500 a year. In fact, since Obamacare was passed, premiums have skyrocketed. Tucker, who works in the insurance industry, said that in the past, in really bad years, premiums might increase by 10 to 20 percent . Since Obamacare passed, the LOWEST rate increase he’s seen was 30.17 percent, and the highest was 44.78 percent.
Some savings! Tucker told of one woman he insured who was undergoing cancer treatments whose plan had a $5,000 deductible for her family with 100% of the rest covered. Because of Obamacare, he was forced to write her a new plan that had a $25,000 deductible PER PERSON! The woman was in tears.
Democrats say Republicans want to “end Medicare as we know it.” In fact, it is Obamacare that will kill Medicare. The very popular Medicare Advantage plan was originally slated to be killed in October. But upon further thought, Obama miraculously pulled another $8 billion from elsewhere to keep it going until after the election. The head of Medicare, Chief Actuary Richard Foster, said that over 20 years Obamacare will rob nearly $5 trillion from Medicare.
Obama also promised us that “if you like your current plan, you can keep it.” In reality, some 20 insurance companies have folded since Obamacare passed and the vast majority of them will go out of business or be bought up by bigger, government subsidized companies within 3 to 5 years.
Obamacare will decimate the medical industry and raise prices and taxes. We will spend $2.6 trillion on it when only about 10 million citizens are chronically uninsured. Please go to www.TruthAboutObamacare.com for more information.
