Prep roundup: DeKalb-Sycamore swim co-op remains undefeated

The Barbs overcame a long bus ride and shorter warmup to defeat McHenry, 116-54, in a dual meet on Wednesday.

The co-op had four individual winners. Marc Dubrick won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, both in career-best times. Daniel Hein took first in the 50 freestyle and 100 free, also career bests, while Ryan Schultz won the 100 backstroke. Jacob Bjork took first in the 200 free, also in a career-best time.

"It was just a great meet," co-op coach Leah Eames said. "We switched up the lineup and in doing so we were still comfortable in coming out with a win."

The Barbs also swept the three relay races. Dubrick, Schultz, Hein and Ryan Lindsey combined to win the 200 medley relay while Austin Bockman, Holden Mackey, Dubrick and Hein teamed for a win in the 200 free relay. Michael Carlson, Tyler Schultz, Ryan Schultz and Bjork took first in the 400 free relay/

The Barbs (5-0) head to an invitational tournament at Rockford Boylan on Dec. 28.

DeKalb boys bowling wins dual match over Ottawa: The DeKalb boys bowling team took two games and the overall series from Ottawa, 3,458-3,258, on Wednesday.

DeKalb was led by Ranzy Collins, who recorded a 659 series, including a high game of 276. Will Todtz had a 603 series and Rob Olsen had single-game high of 220. Seth Pinne (208) and Gave Olalade (202) also had games of more than 200 pins.

The Barbs host Oswego today at Mardi Gras Lanes.
