Local weather-related postponements/cancellations

With a winter storm headed to DeKalb County, we will provide an updated list of local cancellations and closings for schools and events. If you know of a local closing/cancellation and it's not up here, please email news@daily-chronicle.com.

4:32 p.m: The Sycamore Public Library will close early at 5 tonight, due to the storm. The library will reopen again Friday morning at 9 a.m.

3:52 p.m: All NIU campuses will close at 4:30 p.m. and will re-open at 8 a.m. Friday.

3:43 p.m: All Kishwaukee YMCA programs and classes scheduled after 3 p.m. today are canceled. The swim team will practice as scheduled, unless notified by DCST. The YMCA facility will remain open.

If both DeKalb and Sycamore school districts are closed, then all YMCA classes will be canceled until 2:30 p.m. At 3:00 p.m., the YMCA will determine if the conditions have improved enough for afternoon and evening classes to take place.

2:46 p.m: The DeKalb Just For Kix Dance Program has canceled all classes for tonight.

2:43 p.m: Sycamore North Elementary School's scheduled caroling event for this evening has been canceled.

1:40 p.m: DeKalb Township offices are closing at 3 p.m. today. DeKalb Township Committee on Youth Meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. today will be canceled.

1:35 p.m: Clinton Rosette Middle School has canceled all after-school activities.

1:05 p.m: The DeKalb County Democratic Central Committee Holiday Party that was going to be tonight (Dec. 20) has been postponed to Thursday, December 27, 6:30 p.m.

12:41 p.m: At Indian Creek High School, all after school activities have been canceled. School will be let out at 2:15 p.m. today

12:21 p.m: Tonight's games at the DeKalb boys basketball Chuck Dayton Tournament have been postponed until Friday.

11:53 a.m: At Kaneland John Stewart Elementary School, a variety show scheduled for tonight has been postponed and tentatively rescheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 8.

11:43 a.m: Kaneland High School has canceled all after-school activities, practices and the winter concert. Students that do not drive or ride the bus should make arrangements to be picked up at the dismissal of school, at 2:50 pm.

11:19 a.m: KEC CTE third session classes are closed.

10:52 a.m: Kishwaukee College's campus will close at noon today. Finals scheduled for after noon will be postponed. The men's basketball game and the nursing pinning ceremony are cancelled. The KEC graduation ceremony, scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m., will proceed as planned.
