Flippin Eggs seeks gifts for holiday meal

DeKALB – Flippin Eggs needs wrapped presents to hand out Sunday at the restaurant’s free holiday meal.

The seventh annual community holiday dinner will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at 831 S. Fourth St. in DeKalb. Diners will have a choice of a ham or spaghetti dinner, with sides and dessert. The dinner is cooked and served by volunteers, some of whom are on the restaurant’s staff.

The restaurant collects donated gifts in the days and weeks leading up to the dinner, with the intention that every diner will receive a present. Last year, the dinner served more than 150 people and collected more than 400 gifts. Food and gifts left over at the end of the meal were donated to Safe Passage domestic violence shelter and Hope Haven homeless shelter.
