CROP Walk total exceeds goal

The total raised by the 2012 Sondra King Memorial CROP Hunger Walk was recently finalized. The Oct. 21 walk raised $32,036 to fight hunger locally and abroad.

This total exceeds the goal set for the walk by $400. Twenty-four local churches and organizations participated in the walk, and 43 walkers were recognized for raising more than $200 each.

Twenty-five percent of the total will be distributed to DeKalb County agencies including local food pantries, Meals on Wheels, Hope Haven and Safe Passage. The remainder will be distributed to agencies working nationally and internationally to provide disaster relief and assist self-development projects.
