DeKALB – A DeKalb woman was killed in a two-vehicle car accident Saturday evening.

Dana L. Zastrow, 55, was traveling west in the 500 block of West Bethany Road  when she crossed into the eastbound lane, according to a news release from DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller. A vehicle collided with the passenger side of her car, sending her car into a ditch on the south side of the road, the news release states.

It was unknown why her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, the release states.

DeKalb firefighters extricated Zastrow from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:10 p.m. Saturday.

DeKalb Police Lt. Jason Leverton said while the investigation is still ongoing, it is believed that the rainy weather and road conditions might have been a factor in the accident. He said alcohol was not a factor.

Leverton said the two people in the other car were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for injuries, which were not life-threatening.
