The DeKalb-Sycamore co-op boys swimming team avenged another dual-meet loss from last season with a 114-56 win over Jacobs in its home opener.

“We had two losses [last year], and they both fell within this week to Oswego and Jacobs,” co-op coach Leah Eames said. “I just really have no explanation for this score. Last year we lost by 14 points, and this year we more than doubled their score.”

Daniel Hein won the 200-yard individual medley while Ryan Lindsey won the 100 butterfly. Dylan Powers took first in the 100 freestyle, Marc Dubrick won the 100 back and Ryan Schultz was the winner in the 100 breast.

The Barbs also won three relays. Hein, Schultz Powers and Josh Page combined for a win in the 200 medley. Dubrick, Lindsey, Page and Hein won the 200 free, and Dubrick, Jacob Bjork, Michael Carlson and Powers took first in the 400 free.

“We split our lineup up,” Eames said. “It was kind of a risk, but we switched up our relays. Really our depth is getting us through the season.”

The Barbs are 4-0 and travel to the six-team York Invitational this weekend.
