Police drills planned Saturday in Kirkland

KIRKLAND – Several police agencies will practice responding to school intruders and other emergencies today at Hiawatha High School, 410 S. First St. in Kirkland.

The Northern Illinois Training Advisory Board planned the scenario-based training for weeks, long before a gunman killed dozens of people Friday at a school in Newtown, Conn. Kirkland Village President Les Bellah said residents should not to be alarmed to see emergency personnel around the high school.

The training is expected to last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
