Eating healthy while travelling

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Many of us are on the road during the holidays.  Travelling often means lots of eating out.  Here are some tips for healthy eating during your holiday travels.

Bring your own healthy foods along:

Homemade sandwiches with lean meats, natural peanut butter and/or vegetables

Baked chips

Whole grain crackers and low-fat string cheese

Bring raw veggies to snack on

Bring fresh fruits like apples and pears

Bring healthy snack bars – my family likes Kashi TLC bars, Zone, and Balance bars

When you have to stop to eat, choose these healthier options:

Half sandwich, soup or salad combos

Grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad

Turkey burger with side salad

Six inch sub sandwich with lean meat and lots of vegetables

Salads with grilled meats, vegetables, and low-fat dressing

Happy and safe holiday travels to all!
