Driver remains in hospital after crash near Genoa

GENOA – A 50-year-old Oak Park woman remained hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a crash Tuesday at Base Line and Five Points roads outside Genoa.

Jayne N. Mozal was in good condition at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford on Wednesday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said. She was taken there after her 2007 Chrysler SUV collided with a 2003 Ford SUV about 12:16 p.m. Tuesday.

Elizabeth M. Downey, 20, of the 200 block of West Second Street, Genoa, was driving west on Base Line Road and pulled in front of Mozal, who was driving north on Five Points Road, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Downey was cited with failing to yield at an intersection, the release stated.
