Published: Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

Reservation deadline is Dec. 19 for the Northern Illinois University Annuitants Association trip to Drury Lane is to see the matinee of “Sunset Boulevard” on Jan. 31.

“Sunset Boulevard” is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Based on the 1950 film of the same title, the plot revolves around Norma Desmond, a faded star of the silent screen era, living in the past in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street. When young screenwriter Joe Gillis accidentally crosses her path, she sees in him an opportunity to make her comeback to the big screen. Romance and tragedy follow.

The group will depart DeKalb at 10 a.m. for the 2 p.m. matinee performance with a pre-show luncheon.
