Liners will not return in 2013
The DeKalb County Liners, a Sycamore-based baseball team that competed in the Midwest Collegiate League, will not be returning to the baseball diamond in 2013.
The team announced on its Facebook page late Tuesday night that, due to a lack of attendance, the Liners will not be continuing for its fourth season.
“It is with great sadness that we report that the Liners will NOT return for the 2013 season,” the Liners’ Facebook page states. “After three seasons of rather lackluster attendance (from a numbers standpoint, but certainly not from an enthusiasm standpoint), it was decided by ownership to not continue on.”
The Liners played their games at Founders Field in Sycamore. They made the playoffs for the first time in 2012 and competed for the MCL Championship, losing to the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, 2-0, in the three-game series.
The other MCL members are the Rockford Forresters, Southland Vikings, Will County Crackerjacks, DuPage County Hounds, Chicago Zephyrs, Illinois Lincolns and the Oilmen.
