Freezin’ for Food 
surpasses goal

DeKALB – Freezin’ for Food collected 17,026 pounds of the food last week for the DeKalb Salvation Army food pantry.

WLBK-AM radio program director Terry Ryan collected food and monetary donations from noon Wednesday to noon Saturday in the Aldi-Target shopping center parking lot on Sycamore Road. The goal was to collect 17,000 pounds of food. Last year’s effort collected 16,295 pounds.

The event also collected more than $3,000 in cash donations, which will allow the food pantry to purchase food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, organizer Maria Murray said.
