Springfield zoo invites public to help name eagle

Published: Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 5:30 a.m. CDT

SPRINGFIELD – A zoo in Springfield is giving visitors a chance to name a bald eagle.

The Henson Robinson Zoo recently acquired a young female eagle from a Missouri zoo. The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reported the bird lost its right eye and wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild.

People who attend the Holiday Lights at the Zoo event will be able to submit name suggestions for the eagle. The zoo will select a name from the submissions.
