The DeKalb girls basketball team improved to 9-0 and 2-0 in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East with a 41-17 win at Morris.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cogs win conference opener: Adam Price had 17 points for Genoa-Kingston in the Cogs’ 46-27 win over Harvard. Price was the only player in double figures for G-K, which had a tough time against the Hornets’ zone defense.

“It frustrated us at times,” G-K coach Corey Jenkins said. “Shots weren’t dropping. We were forcing a little bit too much. But a win’s a win.”

The Cogs are now 6-1 and 1-0 in the Big Northern East.

Royals take down Somonauk: Michael Bayler scored 20 points, and Bernie Conley added 17 for Hinckley-Big Rock in a 60-44 win over Somonauk. Jared Madden added 13 points for the Royals.

Govig leads T’wolves to win: Garrison Govig scored 18 points and added 13 rebounds for Indian Creek in a 50-37 victory over Serena. Jaron Todd had nine points for the Timberwolves and Garrett Post added eight. Kyle Lieving finished with six points and nine assists.
