Candidate filing  deadlines extended

SYCAMORE – The candidate filing period for April’s local elections has been extended from 5 p.m. Dec. 24 to 5 p.m. Dec. 26.

Gov. Pat Quinn signed a law Sunday extending the filing period, DeKalb County Clerk John Acardo said in a news release. Dec. 24 is a holiday for county employees, so offices will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, Acardo said.

He encouraged local candidates to contact the local unit of government for which they are seeking office to determine the dates and times they can submit their paperwork between Dec. 17 and Dec. 26.
