SYCAMORE – No one was injured Monday when a semitrailer going west on Route 64 overturned in front of The Hardwood Connection and Elburn Co-op at the 1800 block of West State Street.

Route 64 between Peace Road and First Street was blocked by police while employees from Lovett’s 24 Hour Towing worked to move the truck off the street early Monday evening. The overturned semitrailer covered both lanes of traffic. The accident happened about 3:10 p.m.

Sgt. Jim Burgh of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said the driver, Michael Binns, became distracted by something inside his vehicle, which led to the accident. Burgh said Binns was transporting artificial sweetener to Monroe, Wis.

Binns, who had no visible injuries, had no comment.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and besides a small amount of motor oil, no hazardous materials leaked from the truck when it flipped, Burgh said.
