DeKalb Festival Chorus sets holiday concert

The DeKalb Festival Chorus will present a holiday concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John, 26555 Brickville Road in Sycamore. Tickets cost $10 and are available at the door.

The concert will feature works by J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Ola Gjielo and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck; dramatic works with percussion, including the Nigerian carol “Betelehemu”; and music from the American shape-note, Appalachian, and gospel quartet traditions.

The performance also will include a rocking arrangement of the Chanukah song “S’vivon,” the wartime classic “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and a world premiere by conductor Seth Houston.
