St. John’s sets special services and events

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John (Missouri Synod), 26555 Brickville Road, Sycamore, has planned a month of services and events leading up to Christmas.

Midweek advent services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 5, 12 and 19.

The Sunday school Christmas presentation will be held at the 10:30 a.m. service on Dec. 16.

Christmas Eve services will take place at 4 and 7 p.m. and a candlelight service with Holy Communion will be held at 11 p.m. On Christmas Day, a 10 a.m. service with Holy Communion will be offered.

The church will present a Bethlehem Market Place that will include a live nativity from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 8. The event recreates a night in Bethlehem with live animals and crafts at the time of Jesus. Admission is free, as are the refreshments offered. There also will be a candy and cookie sale at this event.
