Cutler to start against Vikings

As expected, Jay Cutler will start today when the Bears host the Minnesota Vikings.

Cutler has not played since Nov. 11, when he absorbed a helmet-to-helmet hit from Houston Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins and left the game at halftime. He was replaced last week by veteran backup Jason Campbell, who struggled in a 32-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Bears (7-3) will need to protect Cutler better than they did Campbell, who was sacked a half-dozen times against the 49ers. In an effort to keep Cutler upright, the Bears switched two of their five starting offensive linemen.

Chris Spencer will start at left guard in place of Chilo Rachal, who left the team earlier this week. Jonathan Scott will start at right tackle in place of Gabe Carimi, who was benched after missing more than a couple of blocks last week.

The Bears listed seven players as inactive: Josh McCown, Alshon Jeffery, Dane Sanzenbacher, Matt Toeaina, James Brown, Amobi Okoye and Cheta Ozougwu.
