Sycamore firefighters emphasize safety

SYCAMORE – The Sycamore Fire Department started its annual red wreath program this week to remind residents about fire safety during the holidays.

Wreaths lit with red bulbs were placed outside both fire stations on Thanksgiving, but firefighters will replace a red bulb with a white bulb each time there is a holiday-related fire, according to a news release. The wreaths will be displayed until Jan. 1.

Last year, the wreaths remained red, indicating no holiday-related emergencies. The program started in 1997.
