PREP ROUNDUP: Cogs lose to Oregon

The Genoa-Kingston boys basketball team couldn’t deal with Oregon’s size advantage in the post Friday as the Cogs suffered their first defeat of the season, 66-48, to the tournament hosts.

Adam Price led the Cogs (1-1) with 20 points while freshman Tommy Lucca had 11 and senior Mason Lucca recorded nine points.

“They went on a run in second quarter and we could not recover,” G-K coach Cory Jenkins said. “Their size really got to us late in the game. Gabe Williams stepped in and did a nice job with their big guy, making him work for what he got.”

Somonauk downs Reed Custer: So-monauk defeated Reed Custer, 68-56.

Dan Reiss led the Bobcats with 19 points and 11 rebounds. John Wathon added 16 points and five assists while Reece Bode had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Webb out for Sycamore: Kayla Webb, one of Sycamore’s captains, will be out for two to four weeks with a cracked ulna bone in her forearm

“We will miss her leadership and experience and hope that she will be able to come back and finish her senior year strong,” Sycamore coach Lance Webb said.

Kayla was an all-conference and Daily Chronicle all-area selection last year. She is scheduled to have another x-ray in a week.

H-BR moves to 2-0: The Royals won their second game of the season, using a 34-15 advantage in the second half to beat Marquette, 66-42.

Jared Madden led the Royals with 19 points while Bernie Conley add 17.
